About the Plan

This DIY mobile lathe stand is a great compact tool cart to add to any shop.  It works great for a small lathe (lathe shown in photos is a 12 x 18 lathe) and provides a chisel holder shelf, some cubbies for storing wood turning blanks, and drawers to keep accessories, sandpaper, and extra tools contained.

It’s built from a single sheet of 3/4″ plywood plus a couple small pieces of 1/4″ plywood for the drawer bottoms.  The drawers are optional, but add a nice place for extra storage.

Plans include cut list, plywood cut diagram, and step by step instructions with SketchUp drawings.  Overall size is approx. 41″ long, 16″ deep, 31″ tall (height varies slightly by your choice of caster wheels).
